A local physician in Weimar is inviting residents to participate in the town’s first anniversary Walk with a Doc Texas event. The initiative, which encourages community members to join physicians for a group walk, aims to promote physical activity and provide an opportunity for participants to ask health-related questions.

Dr. Duchicela will lead the walk alongside other healthcare professionals, offering support and information during the event. According to organizers, “Walkers will enjoy a refreshing and invigorating walk with Dr. Duchicela and other health care professionals, who will provide support to participants and answer questions during the walk.”

The Walk with a Doc Texas program is part of a national nonprofit effort designed to get people active and healthy. In Texas, it is supported by the Texas Medical Association (TMA), which represents more than 59,000 physicians and medical students across the state. TMA has been focused on improving public health since its founding in 1853.

Participation in the Weimar event is free of charge, and preregistration is not required. Information about future walks will be available on this chapter’s Walk with a Doc website.

Funding for Walk with a Doc Texas in 2025 comes from TMA Foundation, along with contributions from TMA Insurance Trust and donations from institutions, physicians, and their families.
