The U.S. Census Bureau has released updated population estimates and projections for 21 countries and areas, extending demographic data up to the year 2100. The update is part of the International Database (IDB), which provides information on population size, growth, mortality, fertility, and migration for over 220 countries and areas.
This latest release refines estimates and projections for Australia, Bangladesh, Barbados, Botswana, Burundi, Cameroon, El Salvador, Eswatini, Guatemala, Iran, Jamaica, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Nigeria, Philippines, Rwanda, Togo, Tunisia, the United States, and Zambia. The data set also includes information for 13,671 subnational regions comparable to states or counties worldwide. Enhanced mapping features are now available with this release.
According to the Census Bureau: “The current update incorporates new data from censuses, surveys and administrative records, and updated analyses based on those data.”
The IDB provides demographic indicators by sex and single year of age up to 100-plus years old. The database is periodically updated as new information becomes available.
More details about these international population estimates can be accessed through the International Database Overview webpage.
