The U.S. Census Bureau has released new data detailing geographic mobility and place of birth at the state level for 2024. The statistics, which draw from the 2024 American Community Survey (ACS) 1-year estimates, offer insight into how people moved between states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and internationally during that year.

The State-to-State Migration Flows table provides estimates on the number of people who relocated among all 50 states, D.C., Puerto Rico, and those who arrived in the United States from other countries. Another table offers estimates of residents in these locations categorized by their place of birth.

These newly available tables are intended to help policymakers, researchers, and others better understand patterns in population movement across the United States.
