The U.S. Census Bureau released new data on Mar. 26 from the Household Trends and Outlook Pulse Survey, known as HTOPS, covering a range of topics including food and nutrition, health and well-being, transportation, employment, education, and more.

The release provides updated insights into the socioeconomic conditions of households across the nation. The data are intended to help federal agencies assess current trends and inform policy decisions at both national and smaller geographic levels.

According to the Census Bureau, about 30,000 households participated in the survey in April 2025. The resulting dataset is available as a public-use file so that users can create customized tables based on their needs.

HTOPS is described as an experimental product that collects information every other month on core topics while rotating others to capture evolving household conditions. The survey’s goal is to support operational planning and policy development by offering timely information about U.S. households.

Additional data collected later in 2025 will be released in future months, according to the Census Bureau announcement.
