Texas Governor Greg Abbott has sent more emergency management personnel to Arizona to help with flood recovery efforts. This move follows a request from Arizona’s Department of Emergency and Military Affairs.
“Texans are no strangers to the devastating effects caused by severe weather,” said Governor Abbott. “Today, I directed the Texas Division of Emergency Management to deploy additional personnel to further support Arizona as they rebuild and recover from recent flooding. Texas will continue to assist our fellow Americans in their time of need.”
The Texas Division of Emergency Management has assigned staff specializing in logistics, planning, and disaster finance to work with Arizona’s Emergency Operations Center and field teams as part of the ongoing response.
This deployment builds on previous support sent last week by Texas for Arizona’s flood recovery operations.
The assistance is being provided through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC), which allows states to share resources during disasters or emergencies. EMAC enables participating states to send aid across state lines, protect deployed personnel, and receive reimbursement for mission-related expenses. More details about EMAC can be found at emacweb.org.
