The Texas Real Estate Commission has announced that the updated Information About Brokerage Services (IABS 1-2) form is now required for use as of January 1, 2026. This update comes in response to Senate Bill 1968, which takes effect on the same date and introduces a non-representation status and new written agreement requirements to The Real Estate License Act (TRELA).

According to the commission, “The changes to the IABS notice are due to Senate Bill 1968, effective January 1, 2026, which adds to The Real Estate License Act (TRELA) a non-representation status and written agreement requirements for certain situations.”

The revised IABS notice includes updated language reflecting these legislative changes. Additionally, descriptions of contact information have been adjusted to match current terminology. The latest version also removes references to subagency since this concept will no longer be part of TRELA following the implementation of Senate Bill 1968.

“The language in the IABS notice has been updated to reflect these changes, and the description of the contact information has been revised to align with current terminology,” according to the commission.

Finally, officials noted that “the changes remove references to subagency, as it is eliminated from TRELA under Senate Bill 1968.”

Real estate professionals are encouraged to review the new form and understand how it should be provided to consumers.
