The Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC) is preparing to launch its new Real Estate and Appraiser License Management Portal, known as the REALM Portal. The system aims to modernize and streamline how education providers post course credit, manage approvals, and interact with TREC.

As part of the transition, TREC’s current online licensing services and Posting System will be unavailable from December 2, 2025, at 5 p.m. CT until December 14, 2025. The REALM Portal is scheduled to go live on December 15, 2025. This date was updated from an earlier planned launch of December 10 to allow more time for final adjustments.

With the introduction of the REALM Portal, course approval numbers will change. New numbers will consist of five digits plus an alpha code. Providers will receive a list mapping their existing courses to the new numbering system. Provider approval numbers will remain unchanged but will now include an alpha code as well.

The portal also brings changes in terminology for course delivery methods to better align with industry standards. Delivery options now include synchronous (live and real-time), asynchronous (self-paced), and blended formats that combine both approaches.

License numbers for sales agents, brokers, inspectors, and appraisers will stay the same but will now have an added alpha code indicating license type. Both elements must be used when posting course credit through the new system.

Applications for Legal Update I and II courses for 2026–2027 are under review by TREC. Approval letters are expected to be issued starting mid-December via the REALM Portal.

TREC plans to send targeted updates directly to operations managers at approved education providers and encourages stakeholders to follow ongoing developments on its website.
