The Texas Real Estate Commission announced on Apr. 10 the launch of its new REALM Portal, designed to help individuals and businesses apply for real estate licenses and manage their applications online.

The introduction of the REALM Portal is intended to streamline the licensing process for those seeking to become real estate sales agents, individual brokers, or business entity brokers. The portal provides step-by-step instructions for setting up an account and submitting required documentation.

Applicants are advised to have all necessary documents ready when applying. For example, first-time sales agent applicants should upload six prelicensing certificates with their application through the portal to speed up processing. The commission said that reviewing applications and issuing exam authorizations can take up to four weeks, which includes time needed for applicants to provide any additional information requested.

Users can check the status of their application at any time by logging into their REALM Portal account, navigating to ‘My Records,’ and selecting their application link. The system uses visual indicators: a green checkmark shows that an item is complete while an hourglass indicates that processing is ongoing or additional information—such as exam results or fingerprint records—is pending.

The new digital process aims to make it easier for prospective real estate professionals in Texas to track progress and fulfill requirements throughout the licensing journey.
