Texas Mutual Insurance Company, the largest provider of workers’ compensation insurance in Texas, has concluded its annual Month of Giving. The event took place in October and involved 389 employees volunteering across four cities: Austin, Houston, Dallas, and Lubbock. This initiative is now in its fifth year in partnership with the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF).

Employees collectively contributed 1,347 hours of service to 47 local organizations. Activities included preparing meals for families at Ronald McDonald House locations, assisting food pantries, supporting children’s events at hospitals, assembling hygiene kits for under-resourced areas, and participating in various community support projects.

In Austin, volunteers worked with Mobile Loaves & Fishes at Community First! Village by helping residents and maintaining gardens. They also participated in family volunteer events with Generation SERVE and supported Central Texas nonprofits through activities like making cat toys and birthday banners. Additional efforts included preparing lunches at Caritas of Austin, packing food boxes for El Buen Samaritano’s pantry, organizing items at Central Texas Food Bank’s warehouse, assembling thank-you bags for Texas Search and Rescue staff after recent flooding events, hosting a teacher appreciation lunch for Wayside Schools, helping children with homework at Foundation Communities during Halloween festivities, taking part in a fall festival for children at Texas Children’s Hospital, and supporting Saint Louise House’s Trunk or Treat event.

Houston-based employees served lunch to families staying at Ronald McDonald House Charities Greater Houston and prepared healthy lunches for Kids’ Meals. Other activities included meal preparation at Houston Food Bank’s Kids’ Café, playing games with foster children at Casa de Esperanza de Los Ninos, and assembling hygiene kits for Project C.U.R.E.

In Dallas, volunteers prepared dinners for families staying at Ronald McDonald House of Dallas. They also hosted an event benefiting Catch Up & Read and the Humane Society of North Texas; spent time teaching classes to adults with disabilities at My Possibilities; and packed cold and flu kits distributed to seniors by Foundation Communities.

Lubbock office efforts included hosting a Make-A-Wish celebration granting a trip to Walt Disney World for a young child and her family; supporting veterans attending the Texas South Plains Honor Flight send-off luncheon; partnering with the Volunteer Center of Lubbock on family-friendly activities such as making bookmarks or writing holiday cards for service members; caring for animals at Morris Safe House; preparing dinners for families using Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Southwest; packing food boxes for South Plains Food Bank; and assisting with Science Spectrum’s science carnival.

A company statement said: “It’s because of our employees and amazing community partners across the state that we’re able to build a stronger, safer and brighter future for our neighbors. During our Month of Giving and throughout the year, we’re grateful for our employees’ volunteer spirit and all our partners who share in our mission.”
