Acting Texas Comptroller Kelly Hancock has announced the distribution of $1.5 billion in local sales tax allocations for February to cities, counties, transit systems, and special purpose districts. This amount is 2.5 percent higher than the allocations distributed in February 2025.
“These allocations are based on sales made in December by businesses that report tax monthly; October, November and December sales by quarterly filers; and 2025 sales by businesses that report tax annually,” Hancock stated.
The breakdown of the allocations shows that cities will receive $963.4 million, a 2.9 percent increase compared to last year. Transit systems are set to get $309.4 million, which represents a slight decrease of 0.7 percent from February 2025 but an overall year-to-date increase of 1.3 percent. Counties will receive $95.1 million, up by 5.8 percent from last year and showing a year-to-date rise of 4.6 percent. Special purpose districts are allocated $156.8 million, marking a 4.7 percent increase over last year and a year-to-date growth of 7.6 percent.
