The Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA) marked the beginning of 2026 by announcing the grand opening of two affordable housing properties in Fort Worth and Dallas.

Thrive on Crawford, located at 1310 Crawford Street in Fort Worth, offers 67 units for households earning between 30 to 60 percent of the Area Median Income. The property includes one, two, and three-bedroom units, as well as amenities such as a business center, clubhouse and lounge area, and an outdoor playground. It has received funding through a 2021 9% Housing Tax Credit award valued at approximately $17 million over ten years, a supplemental tax credit in 2023, and a $1.8 million Multifamily Direct Loan in 2023. Residents will also have direct access to healthcare services through a partnership with JPS Health Network.

In Dallas, April Housing reopened West Virginia Park at 8004 West Virginia Drive after significant renovations. The rehabilitated property consists of 204 units and is near Southwest Center Mall, grocery stores, restaurants, and a public library. Improvements include renovated kitchens and bathrooms, updated outdoor play areas, and rooftop solar panels to help offset electricity costs and provide backup power during outages. The development received a 2024 4% Housing Tax Credit worth about $18 million over ten years.

The TDHCA is responsible for administering housing assistance programs across Texas. According to its official website, the agency delivers services statewide that include rent payment support, utility bill assistance, Section 8 housing vouchers, homebuyer education programs, foreclosure prevention resources, manufactured housing regulation oversight, disaster recovery aid, home repair modifications for accessibility or safety needs, weatherization programs to improve energy efficiency in homes, and loan servicing for residents.

Those interested in living at Thrive on Crawford can contact the management office at (888) 530-2445. For West Virginia Park inquiries in Dallas, call (972) 283-4000.
