Texas Children’s has opened a new maternal-fetal medicine clinic in Lakeway, expanding its presence in the Austin and Greater Central Texas region. The Pavilion for Women and Specialty Care began serving patients on January 5th, offering specialized care for complicated pregnancies within the local community.

The clinic provides services such as evaluation, monitoring, and management of conditions including pregnancies affected by maternal diabetes, pre-eclampsia, hypertensive disorders, referrals for advanced fetal imaging, and ongoing high-risk pregnancy monitoring using specialized ultrasound and fetal technology.

“There is a growing need for specialized maternal care in Central Texas,” said Dr. Melanie Belt, Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Texas Children’s, Austin. “By opening this clinic in Lakeway, we are expanding our reach and ensuring that more families have timely access to expert maternal-fetal medicine services, while seamlessly connecting them to our broader system of care when advanced interventions are required.”

Patients at the Lakeway clinic benefit from access to a Maternal Fetal Medicine specialist and advanced diagnostic equipment. Leigh Brasuel, a patient at the new location, said: “Knowing this level of specialized care was available so close to home was incredibly reassuring. The Lakeway clinic provided a safe, supportive environment when it mattered most.”

This site is the second maternal-fetal medicine clinic operated by Texas Children’s Pavilion for Women in Austin; the first is located at the hospital itself. Patients requiring more complex fetal intervention can be referred directly to specialists at Texas Children’s Hospital.

“Expanding access to specialized care is central to our mission of serving families where they live,” said Dr. Jeffrey Shilt, President of Austin and Central Texas, Texas Children’s. “The opening of our Maternal-Fetal Medicine clinic in Lakeway reflects our commitment to strengthening care across Central Texas by bringing advanced maternal expertise closer to home, while ensuring seamless access to the full capabilities of Texas Children’s when complex care is needed.”

Texas Children’s states that the new clinic will also help strengthen relationships with local healthcare providers by increasing appointment availability and supporting referrals from area professionals.

The organization continues its efforts to expand specialized health resources throughout Austin and Greater Central Texas. More information about Texas Children’s facilities and programs can be found at www.texaschildrens.org.
