Aijah, a 7-year-old patient from Texas Children’s Hospital, participated in the River Oaks District’s Holiday Tree Lighting event by lighting the tree with Santa and Fox 26 reporter Caroline Collins. Aijah was diagnosed with leukemia three months ago and is now in remission. She will continue to receive chemotherapy for two more years.

Thanks to a specialized medical backpack, Aijah can get her chemotherapy treatments while at home and attending events with her family, rather than staying in the hospital.

Fox 26 covered the event as part of their community reporting.
