Dr. Elyse Portillo, an Emergency Center physician at Texas Children’s Hospital, appeared on KHOU to discuss frequent emergencies that occur during the holiday season. According to Dr. Portillo, burns, cuts, food allergies, and choking are among the most common incidents reported during this time of year.

She provided advice on how families can prevent these emergencies from happening. Dr. Portillo also shared recommendations for safely including children in cooking activities during holiday traditions.
