Dr. Sara Anvari, who leads clinical trials in the Food Allergy Program at Texas Children’s Hospital, spoke with Fox 26’s health reporter about recent trends in peanut allergies among children. According to Dr. Anvari, there has been a decrease in peanut allergy rates in children since new guidelines were introduced in 2017.

During the interview, Dr. Anvari offered advice for parents on introducing peanuts to infants and highlighted signs that may indicate an allergic reaction. She also discussed when it is necessary to seek emergency care if a child experiences symptoms of an allergy.

“She provided tips for parents about how and when to introduce peanuts to their babies, what signs of allergy they should watch for, and when an allergic reaction could be an emergency,” said the hospital.

The updated recommendations on early peanut introduction are linked to the observed decline in allergies among young children.
