TCEQ approves over $470K in fines for environmental regulation violations

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has approved penalties totaling $344,765 against 23 regulated entities for violations of state environmental regulations. The agency announced the enforcement actions following its latest meeting.

According to TCEQ, agreed orders were issued in several categories: two air quality cases, one industrial hazardous waste case, one industrial wastewater discharge case, one municipal wastewater discharge case, two petroleum storage tank cases, six public water system cases, one sludge case, and two water quality cases.

Default orders were also issued in a range of areas. These included one multi-media violation, two municipal solid waste violations, one petroleum storage tank violation, two utilities violations, and one water quality violation.

Additionally, the executive director approved penalties totaling $126,988 against 44 entities on July 29 and August 5.
