Members of IAM Union Local 696 (District 19) Rail Division described their work rebuilding heavy machinery at the CSX Bryan Park roadway shop in Richmond, Va., according to an April 2 announcement.

The union members said their efforts focus on a comprehensive process that involves tearing down, fabricating, and assembling complex electrical and hydraulic systems. This work is important for maintaining and improving equipment used on rail lines.

A video released by the group highlights how IAM members approach each project with attention to detail and a commitment to quality craftsmanship. According to the union operators featured in the video, equipment rebuilt by IAM functions like a “Cadillac” when it returns to service.

The release provides insight into the skills required for this type of repair work and underlines the role of union labor in supporting railway operations through advanced rebuilds.

Union representatives said they take pride in producing high-quality results that meet demanding standards for performance and reliability.
