IAM Local 318 leader Joseph Rumrey, who represents rail workers at Keolis in Boston, recently attended a leadership training session at the IAM Winpisinger Center in Hollywood, Maryland. The program is designed to provide around 14 union representatives from various parts of the United States with practical skills needed to advocate for their members.
The training places particular emphasis on developing expertise in claims writing and preparing for legal investigations. These areas are considered essential for union leaders working to protect the interests of their membership.
In addition to individual skill development, the broader objectives of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) rail division include efforts to secure funding for commuter rail services and to support expansion of high-speed rail infrastructure nationwide.
