IAM Union General Secretary-Treasurer Dora Cervantes and Air Transport Territory General Vice President Richie Johnsen visited the William W. Winpisinger Education and Technology Center (W3) to engage with students in organizing and young worker classes. The visit included Organizing I courses conducted in both Spanish and English, as well as the Young Workers Leadership Program.

Students from across North America attended the sessions at W3, focusing on building their skills and strengthening their commitment to the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM). Cervantes emphasized the importance of offering organizing education in Spanish, stating that it is essential for all members to have access to resources needed for leadership roles. She said her presence was meant to highlight IAM’s ongoing efforts toward inclusion, education, and empowering members throughout the union.

Johnsen met with organizers and young workers during his visit. He acknowledged their dedication and enthusiasm, especially given how close it was to the holiday season.

Participants in the Young Workers program noted that having union leaders present reinforced their significance within the labor movement and affirmed their place at decision-making tables.
