Governor Greg Abbott has issued a statement in support of President Trump’s recent actions against Iran. The governor emphasized that Texas stands with the president in sending a message to Iran regarding its aggression toward the United States and its allies.

“Texas stands with President Trump in sending a clear message to Iran: its aggression toward America and the West will no longer be tolerated,” Abbott said.

Abbott also noted the importance of joint operations with Middle Eastern allies, describing them as evidence of American determination to address threats from regimes that pose risks to military personnel, allies, and international stability.

“These joint operations with our allies in the Middle East are a clear demonstration of American resolve to neutralize threats from rogue regimes that endanger our troops, our allies, and global stability,” he stated.

He expressed support for the Iranian people’s right to freedom, saying, “The Iranian people deserve to be free from the radical dictatorship that has held them captive for too long.”

In response to potential security concerns following these developments, Abbott directed state agencies to increase vigilance. “I have directed the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Texas National Guard to ramp up surveillance and patrols at key sites—including our vital energy facilities, ports, and southern border. Texas is working closely with our federal partners to protect Texans and our critical assets from potential threats of retaliation,” Abbott said.

Governor Abbott’s office operates out of Austin at the State Insurance Building and is responsible for statewide services across Texas (https://gov.texas.gov/). Since his election in 2014, Abbott has led initiatives focused on job creation, economic growth, education improvement, individual liberties protection, parental involvement in education, and securing the southern border (https://gov.texas.gov/). Under his leadership, Texas has achieved national recognition for employment growth (https://gov.texas.gov/) and Abbott was named among TIME’s 100 Most Influential People in 2024 (https://gov.texas.gov/).
