Governor Greg Abbott renewed and amended a disaster proclamation on March 18 for several Texas counties affected by heavy rainfall and flooding that began in July 2025. The proclamation covers Bandera, Bexar, Burnet, Caldwell, Coke, Comal, Concho, Edwards, Gillespie, Guadalupe, Hamilton, Kendall, Kerr, Kimble, Kinney, Lampasas, Llano, Mason, Maverick, McCulloch, Menard, Real, Reeves, San Saba, Schleicher, Sutton, Tom Green, Travis, Uvalde and Williamson Counties.

The renewal of the disaster declaration allows state agencies to use all available resources to respond to the ongoing impacts of severe weather. It also suspends certain regulatory statutes that could hinder emergency response or delay necessary actions during the disaster period.

“I do hereby amend and renew the aforementioned proclamation and declare a disaster in Bandera…and Williamson Counties,” Abbott said in the official statement. He further authorized “the use of all available resources of state government and of political subdivisions that are reasonably necessary to cope with this disaster.” The order also suspends statutes related to transfer of bodies to families as soon as possible and enables flexibility in contracting or procurement if needed for emergency response.

According to the official website, Governor Abbott has led the Office of Texas Governor since his election in 2014. The office is based at the State Insurance Building in Austin and delivers services statewide across Texas. The governor’s administration has focused on job creation and economic opportunities as well as education enhancement and border security according to the official website.

Abbott was listed among TIME’s 100 Most Influential People in 2024 according to the official website. His office has contributed to Texas leading the nation in jobs growth and record employment levels according to the official website.

The renewed proclamation will remain active until lifted by further executive action. Copies have been filed with applicable authorities as required by law.
