Governor Greg Abbott announced on Mar. 23 the reappointment of Jed Alton Brown as presiding officer of the Webb County – City of Laredo Regional Mobility Authority for a term set to expire on February 1, 2028. The authority is a political subdivision that allows local transportation leaders to partner with the state in delivering infrastructure projects for Webb County and the City of Laredo.
Brown, who resides in Laredo, is president of The Brownstone Group, Inc., where he works as a real estate developer and general contractor for multi-family housing properties. He also serves on the policy committee of the Laredo & Webb County Area Metropolitan Planning Organization and previously completed three terms on the Webb County Appraisal Review Board. In addition to his professional work, Brown has volunteered as a board leader and coach for several youth sports teams across local leagues. He holds a real estate broker’s license and is an active private pilot. Governor Abbott first appointed him to this position in 2019.
