Governor Greg Abbott announced on Apr. 2 the reappointment of Aaron Kinsey as chair of the Texas State Board of Education for a term ending April 1, 2028.
Kinsey, who represents District 15 on the board, is also CEO of American Patrols, Inc., an aviation services company. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 2005 to 2014 and flew over one hundred combat missions as a pilot. Kinsey has chaired the board since 2023 and currently leads both the Committee on School Finance/Permanent School Fund and the Committee on Strategic Planning and Policy for the Permanent School Fund Corporation, which manages $60 billion in investments for Texas education.
The announcement comes at a time when education policy remains a focus for state leadership.
