Governor Greg Abbott has announced new leadership for the Budget and Policy staff within the Office of the Governor. The appointments include several individuals with experience in Texas government and public policy.
“These talented individuals have demonstrated their ability to deliver wins for the State of Texas,” said Governor Abbott. “Texans deserve leadership that will enhance their daily lives and safeguard the foundational truths that unite us as one. I have full faith that together, with this highly-skilled and qualified leadership team, Texas will remain the premier state for freedom and prosperity.”
Tabatha Vasquez has been named Senior Advisor to the Governor, leading both the Budget and Policy Teams. Vasquez previously served as Policy Director and Deputy Budget and Policy Director in the Governor’s office. Her background includes roles as Chief of Staff in the Texas House, Legislative Director, Sunset Committee Director in the Senate, campaign management, and board service at organizations such as Pink Granite Foundation.
Cory Fish will serve as Policy Director. Fish was formerly a Budget and Policy Advisor to Governor Abbott before becoming Deputy Policy Director. His prior experience includes work at a think tank, a trade association, and a non-profit law firm.
Fisher Reynolds has been appointed Budget Director. He previously worked as Chief of Staff at the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) and held advisory roles within state government including Analyst with the Legislative Budget Board.
Danny Mittnacht is now Deputy Policy Director after serving as a Budget and Policy Advisor during the 89th Legislative Session. Mittnacht’s experience includes policy positions in the Texas House and campaign consulting across various levels of government.
Jimmy Anderson will take on responsibilities as Deputy Budget Director. Anderson has focused on tax and economic development issues within the Governor’s office and previously worked for the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts.
The Office of Texas Governor Greg Abbott operates from its main offices in Austin at the State Insurance Building, serving as part of the executive branch of state government. Since his election in 2014, Greg Abbott has led initiatives focusing on job creation, economic opportunities, education enhancement, individual liberties protection, parental empowerment in schooling, and southern border security (source).
