Governor Greg Abbott delivered remarks on March 12 celebrating Texas’ economic strength and leadership in technology and innovation during a South by Southwest (SXSW) reception at the Governor’s Mansion. The event brought together innovators, tech leaders, and creators from around the world as part of SXSW’s four-decade tradition in Austin.
The gathering underscored the importance of technology and business growth for Texas. Abbott said, “Texas ranks No. 1 for technology, innovation, and semiconductors. This is because of the policies that we have passed prioritizing, our large and small businesses. This may be your first visit for some of you, but for most of you it is the place you call home. We are proud to have you here and proud to have you at South by Southwest.”
The annual SXSW Cocktail Reception & Tech Innovation Dinner was hosted by the Office of the Governor, Texas Economic Development and Tourism Office, Texas Economic Development Corporation, and for the first time this year, SXSW itself. Attendees were encouraged by Abbott to explore opportunities in Austin and across Texas while networking with industry peers.
Abbott highlighted that Texas’ business-friendly climate continues to attract leaders from sectors such as defense, artificial intelligence, energy, aerospace, advanced manufacturing, and technology. He also pointed out that collaborative events like SXSW help foster a strong ecosystem for innovation through sound policy decisions and investments in workforce development.
