Governor Abbott appoints two new members to Alzheimer’s Disease Council

Governor Greg Abbott has appointed D. Bailey Wynne and Kathey Comer to the Texas Council on Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders, with terms set to expire on August 31, 2031. The council is responsible for coordinating state services for individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders.

D. Bailey Wynne, from Duncanville, currently serves as a teaching fellow and doctoral student at the University of North Texas in Denton. She holds memberships in the American Pharmacists Association and the Texas Society of Health-System Pharmacists. In addition to her academic work, Wynne is involved with community organizations as a finance board member for Young Life and as a commissioner on the Duncanville Planning and Zoning Board. Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from Creighton University, a Master of Science in Healthcare Administration from The University of Texas at Arlington, and a Master of Arts in Health from Texas Woman’s University.

Kathey Comer, who resides in Tyler, is retired but has an extensive background in public service and community involvement. She previously served as East Texas Regional Director for U.S. Senator John Cornyn and held executive positions with several home builders associations across Austin, Dallas, and Tyler. Comer participates in various civic groups including Catalyst 100, Women’s Fund of Smith County, Junior League of Austin, the Texas Book Festival volunteer committee, and serves as secretary on the Black Hills Cemetery board of directors. Her education includes a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from Baylor University along with advanced degrees in Gerontology and Long-Term Care Administration from UNT; she also completed post-graduate studies in early childhood education at UT Tyler.

In announcing these appointments, Governor Abbott said: “The Council facilitates the coordination of state services for persons with Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders.”
