Governor Greg Abbott has announced the appointment of Chris Moose and the reappointment of Jamie Becker, Ph.D., and Sangeeta Singg, Ph.D., to the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists. Their terms will continue until October 31, 2031.

Chris Moose, based in Austin, serves as vice president of life sciences at Wheel. His previous roles include partner in healthcare and life sciences at IBM and consultant at Price Waterhouse Coopers. He has also chaired the board for Any Baby Can and served on the board of the Austin Healthcare Council. Moose holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management Information from The University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Business Administration in Marketing from the University of Georgia.

Jamie Becker, Ph.D., from Lewisville, is director of Psychiatry at Children’s Health Children’s Medical Center and Clinical Professor at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She is board certified in child and adolescent psychology. Dr. Becker oversees emergency crisis mental health services, consultation/liaison psychiatry and psychology, as well as play therapy services at Children’s Health. She is a member of several professional associations including the Society of Pediatric Psychology, Society of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology, Texas Psychological Association, Dallas Psychological Association, and the Children’s Hospital Association. Her academic background includes a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from The George Washington University; a Master of Science and Doctorate in Psychology from Rosalind Franklin University; and postdoctoral fellowship training at Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

Sangeeta Singg, Ph.D., from San Angelo, is a professor at Angelo State University (ASU), where she directed the Graduate Counseling Psychology Program for nearly thirty years. Dr. Singg has received multiple awards for her leadership and service both within ASU—such as the President’s Award for Excellence—and externally from organizations like Three Rivers Counseling Association. She has also been recognized by the Psychological Association of Greater West Texas with its top honors for meritorious service and leadership in psychology. Dr. Singg volunteers with groups such as American Heart Association Tom Green County, MHMR Concho Valley, and Mosaic. Her education includes undergraduate studies at Punjab University; graduate work in sociology at Mississippi State University; and advanced degrees in psychology from Texas A&M University – Commerce.

The appointments are made by Governor Abbott as part of his role leading the executive office for Texas state government—a position he has held since his election in 2014 (source). The Office focuses on issues including economic development, education enhancement, job growth initiatives statewide (source), border security efforts like Operation Lone Star (source), collaboration with business partners (source), support for community programs (source), parental empowerment in schooling decisions (source), protection of individual liberties (source), among other priorities.
