Governor Greg Abbott has announced the appointment of Joelle McRee, D.D.S., to the Texas Radiation Advisory Board (TRAB) for a term ending April 16, 2027. The Governor also reappointed Michael Britt, Joe Markham, Darlene Metter, M.D., Kenneth “Ken” Peters Ed.D., Robert “Bob” Redweik, and Darshan Sachde, Ph.D., with terms set to expire on April 16, 2031. The board is responsible for advising the state on radiation issues and reviewing regulations and policies related to radiation.
Joelle McRee is an associate periodontist at Periodontal Surgical Arts in Austin. She holds memberships in several professional organizations including the American Dental Association and the Texas Dental Association. McRee completed her undergraduate studies at Texas A&M University and earned advanced degrees from UT Health San Antonio School of Dentistry.
Michael Britt from New Braunfels owns Britt Claims and Consulting Services and has over two decades of experience in insurance. He previously led the Comal County Senior Citizens Foundation and participated in local community groups.
Joe Markham serves as a lieutenant with the City of Arlington Fire Department. He is active in firefighter associations at both local and state levels and holds degrees from Lamar University and Texas A&M University.
Kenneth “Ken” Peters is executive vice president and chief nuclear officer for Luminant based in Granbury. He chairs the Utilities Service Alliance Board of Directors. His academic background includes engineering degrees from New Jersey Institute of Technology and Virginia Tech University as well as a doctorate from Louisiana State University – Shreveport.
Darlene Metter, M.D., is a professor at UT Health San Antonio specializing in radiology. She has held leadership roles with national radiological societies including chairing committees for both TRAB and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s Advisory Committee on Medical Uses of Isotopes. Metter graduated from the University of Hawaii before earning her medical degree at John A. Burns School of Medicine.
Robert “Bob” Redweik serves as vice president overseeing environmental health, safety, and regulatory affairs for Citation Oil & Gas Corp in Tomball. He has held committee leadership positions within industry organizations such as the American Petroleum Institute and Society of Petroleum Engineers. Redweik studied civil engineering at Purdue University followed by an MBA from Loyola University New Orleans.
Darshan Sachde, Ph.D., works as a senior process chemical engineer at Trimeric Corporation in Austin after previous roles with Samsung Austin Semiconductor and Austin Energy. He completed his undergraduate through doctoral studies at UT Austin.
