Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Randall Wright to the Texas Pharmaceutical Initiative Governing Board. Wright’s term will run until February 1, 2029. The board is responsible for creating a business plan to offer cost-effective drugs and medical supplies for public employees.

Wright, who lives in Houston, retired after a 46-year career in healthcare. He previously worked as executive vice president and chief operating officer at Texas Children’s Hospital and as senior vice president at Houston Methodist Hospital. He has also been involved with professional organizations such as the American College of Healthcare Executives and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

In addition to his past roles, Wright serves on the Board of Visitors for MD Anderson Cancer Center and is vice chairman of the Eastern Illinois University Foundation. He also volunteers with Baker Ripley Houston. Wright holds a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Eastern Illinois University and an MBA from Southern Illinois University.
