Governor Abbott appoints new judge and reappoints leaders to state boards

Governor Greg Abbott has announced a new round of appointments to various state positions.

Ashley Wysocki has been appointed as Judge of the 301st Judicial District Court in Dallas County. Her term will run until December 31, 2026, or until a successor is elected and qualified.

For the Gulf Coast Protection District (GCPD) Board of Directors, Governor Abbott reappointed Roger Guenther and named him chair. Sally Bakko, Michel Bechtel, Sharon Hulgan, and Lori Traweek were also reappointed to the board. Their terms will expire on June 16, 2029. The GCPD is responsible for overseeing an integrated coastal resilience strategy for the upper Texas coast.

Robert Rucker was appointed to serve as Injured Employee Public Counsel for a term ending February 1, 2027. The Public Counsel supports injured employees within the Workers’ Compensation system by managing the ombudsman program and advocating on their behalf.
