Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Bryan Henderson, II, D.D.S. as chair of the State Board of Dental Examiners. The Governor also named Janessa Bock and Lisa Masters, D.D.S. as new members and reappointed Linda Burke, D.D.S. to the board. Their terms will run until February 1, 2031. The State Board of Dental Examiners is responsible for overseeing dental and dental hygiene practices in Texas.
Bryan Henderson, II, D.D.S., based in Dallas, is a dentist anesthesiologist and clinical assistant professor at Texas A&M University School of Dentistry. He serves on the boards of Woodhill Medical Park and the Orange Tree Association, where he is also treasurer. Henderson is a past president of the American Society of Dentist Anesthesiologists and a member of several professional organizations, including the ADA and TDA. He holds degrees from The University of Texas at Austin, Baylor College of Dentistry, and a certificate in anesthesia from what is now Drexel University Hospital.
Janessa Bock works as a clinical dental hygienist at Katy Family Dental Group and is founder and managing partner of Oral Health Consultants, LLC. She has served in leadership roles with both state and local dental hygienists’ associations and volunteered with the Texas HPV Coalition. Bock earned her Associate of Applied Science in Dental Hygiene from Amarillo College.
Lisa Masters, D.D.S., from San Antonio, is a board-certified periodontist with The Masters Dental Group and teaches part-time at UT Health San Antonio School of Dentistry. She currently leads the American Academy of Periodontology Foundation and has previously chaired the Anesthesia Advisory Committee for the state dental board. Masters is involved with several professional societies and formerly served on the Texas Radiation Advisory Board. She holds degrees from Texas A&M University and The UT Health Science Center at San Antonio.
Linda Burke, D.D.S., based in Harlingen, owns Burke Children’s Dentistry and serves as president of Platinum Surgery Center. She sits on boards for Valley Baptist Medical Center, Harlingen Economic Development Corporation, and Lone Star National Bank Advisory Board. Burke is active in a number of professional associations and community organizations. She completed her education at St. Mary’s University, The UT Health Science Center at Houston, and The UT Health Science Center at San Antonio.
