Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Morgan Johnson to serve on the Public Utility Commission (PUC) of Texas. Her term will last until September 1, 2031. The PUC is responsible for regulating Texas’s electric, water, wastewater, and telecommunications utilities. It also enforces relevant legislation and assists customers with consumer complaints.

Morgan Johnson is currently the deputy general counsel for the Office of the Governor. Her previous roles include serving as senior counsel to the executive director and as senior counsel to the commissioner at the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. She has also worked as an attorney at McGinnis Lochridge L.L.P.

Johnson is a member of both the State Bar of Texas and the Austin Bar Association. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from The University of Texas at Austin and earned her Juris Doctor from South Texas College of Law.
