Governor Greg Abbott has named three individuals to the Advisory Council on Cultural Affairs, with appointments set to last until February 1, 2029. Stewart McGregor and Ricardo J. Solis, Ph.D., were reappointed, while Ethan Gillis was appointed for the first time. The council is responsible for advising the Office of the Governor on issues that arise from demographic changes in Texas.
Stewart McGregor of Forney serves as executive director of the Kaufman Economic Development Corporation. He holds positions such as co-chair of the Texas Economic Development Council – Legislative Committee and participates in several local organizations including the International Economic Development Council and Kaufman County Leadership Council. McGregor is also involved with community groups like the Kaufman Church of Christ and Kaufman Lions Club. He earned his Bachelor of Arts from Abilene Christian University, completed studies at the Economic Development Institute at the University of Oklahoma, and is a certified economic developer.
Ricardo J. Solis, Ph.D., from McAllen, is president of South Texas College. He contributes to leadership committees within both the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities. Solis received his undergraduate degree in Business and Economics from Trinity University, a Master’s in International Business from Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey, and a Doctorate in Higher Education Administration from The University of Texas at Austin.
Ethan Gillis resides in Richardson and works as a digital gifts officer for Southern Methodist University. He actively participates in alumni activities through the University of North Texas Alumni Association (UNTAA), serving on its executive board for Graduates of the Last Decade (GOLD) Network as well as being part of its Dallas County Network. Gillis graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Advertising from the University of North Texas.
