Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Gregory “Greg” Wilhelm as Judge of the 504th Judicial District Court in Ellis County. The appointment will take effect on December 1, 2025, and Wilhelm’s term is set to expire on December 31, 2026, or until a successor is elected and qualified.

Wilhelm currently serves as a partner at Cantey Hanger, LLP in the Ellis County office. He previously held the position of Trial Court Judge for the Ellis County Court at Law No. 1. His professional affiliations include serving as president of the Ellis County Bar Association and being a member of several legal organizations such as the State Bar of Texas, Dallas Bar Association, and Christian Legal Society.

In addition to his legal career, Wilhelm is involved with community and educational boards. He is a member of the Midlothian Economic Development Board and chairman of the Regent University School of Law Alumni Board. His past roles include chairman of the Texas Governor’s Parental Rights Advisory Panel, membership on the Texas Governor’s Juvenile Justice Advisory Board, founding board president for CASA of Ellis County, Inc., and statewide board president for Texas CASA.

Wilhelm holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Journalism from Baylor University, a Master of Arts in Public Policy from Robertson School of Government, and a Juris Doctor from Regent University School of Law.
