Governor Abbott appoints four to Nueces River Authority Board of Directors

Governor Greg Abbott appointed Gary Krause and Eliza Santos McElhaney to the Nueces River Authority Board of Directors for terms set to expire on February 1, 2031, according to a Mar. 30 announcement. Mark Moczygemba and Chasey Sanchez, Ed.D., were also appointed for terms ending February 1, 2027. The board oversees water management, conservation efforts, water quality control, solid waste handling, and recreational facilities in the Nueces River Basin.

The appointments are significant as the board plays a key role in managing natural resources that affect local communities and regional development. The Nueces River Authority is responsible for administering water use and conservation policies that impact residents and businesses throughout the basin.

Krause is retired after founding Intercontinental Training and holds a Bachelor of Science in Business from the University of Maryland, College Park. McElhaney is based in Corpus Christi where she founded ESV Creative; she brings over fifteen years of digital strategy experience along with prior communications roles in the Texas Senate and Office of the Lieutenant Governor.

Moczygemba works as an independent petroleum landman at Moczygemba Consulting Services and is affiliated with Knights of Columbus. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Finance from The University of Texas at San Antonio. Sanchez serves as Director of Healthcare Analytics for Zimmet Healthcare Consultants while also performing analytics services for Lakes Regional MHMR Center and Lubbock Independent School District; she holds multiple degrees including a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from American College of Education.
