Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Barry Wallace as the new Upshur County Criminal District Attorney. The appointment will take effect on November 1, 2025, and Wallace will serve until December 31, 2026, or until a successor is elected and qualified.

Barry Wallace currently serves as the first assistant in the Upshur County Criminal District Attorney’s Office. He is affiliated with several professional organizations, including the State Bar of Texas, Texas District and County Attorneys Association, and the Northeast Texas Bar Association. In addition to his legal work, he is involved with St. Theresa’s Catholic Church Men’s Association.

Wallace has a background in military service, having received an honorable discharge from the United States Navy. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from East Texas A&M University (formerly East Texas State University) and earned his Juris Doctor from St. Mary’s University.
