Governor Greg Abbott announced on Mar. 20 a series of appointments and reappointments to various state boards, commissions, and advisory committees across Texas.

These appointments are part of the governor’s ongoing efforts to fill key roles that oversee public safety, health, workforce development, and other important areas in the state. The selections include both new appointees and individuals returning for additional terms.

David Broom was appointed as District Attorney of the 2nd Judicial District in Cherokee County for a term ending December 31, 2026. Eric Davis was reappointed to the Commercial Oyster Mariculture Advisory Board until February 1, 2031, with Bradley “Brad” Lomax named chair for a second term. Jose Ayala, D.P.M., Rahul Patel, and Joe E. Martin Jr., D.P.M., were appointed or reappointed to the Podiatric Medical Examiners Advisory Board through February 1, 2031. Nelda Luce Blair will continue serving on the Public Safety Commission until January 1, 2032.

Other appointments include Terry Zrubek to the State Employee Charitable Campaign Policy Committee; Ben Scholz along with Jimmie Ruth Evans, Barret J. Klein, Joe Leathers, and Thomas “Tommy” Oates to the Texas Animal Health Commission; Tycom Wright to the Texas Board of Professional Geoscientists; Dakota Marks to the Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities; Larry Levine and LeElle Slifer (with Sandra Hagee Parker reappointed) to the Texas Holocaust, Genocide, and Antisemitism Advisory Committee; Brent Taylor and Megan Mauro as Co-Chairs of the Texas Jobs Council alongside several new members; and Shane Bailey, M.D., with Jennifer Wegenhoft to the Texas Physician Assistant Board.
