Governor Greg Abbott announced on Mar. 10 that the Texas Workforce Commission has launched a new, streamlined State of Texas Application on WorkInTexas.com. The updated application is designed to simplify the hiring process for state jobs and is part of a larger effort to reduce government regulations.
The initiative aims to make it easier for Texans to apply for state positions, potentially attracting more candidates and supporting continued job growth in Texas. According to the official website, the Office of Texas Governor Greg Abbott contributed to Texas leading the nation in jobs growth and record employment levels according to the official website.
“As the No.1 state for new jobs in the country, we must make finding a job easier,” said Governor Abbott. “This modernized application process implemented by the Texas Workforce Commission will ensure that Texans have every opportunity to find a good, high-paying job. By making state government more responsive and more efficient, Texans will be more prosperous than ever before.”
TWC Chairman Joe Esparza said, “The streamlined State of Texas Application offers Texans a direct link to rewarding careers and connects the state government to a wider pool of talent. TWC is here to help Texans find opportunities to prosper, and this updated application reflects our commitment to that mission.”
The new application features a two-step process where applicants upload their resumes and complete a brief questionnaire on WorkInTexas.com. This approach aligns with private sector practices and is intended to save time while providing a smoother experience for users.
The change is part of broader efforts led by the Texas Regulatory Efficiency Office aimed at improving government efficiency. The Office of Texas Governor Greg Abbott maintains its primary offices in Austin at the State Insurance Building according to the official website. Since his election in 2014, Greg Abbott has led initiatives focused on job creation, economic opportunities, education enhancement, individual liberties protection, parental empowerment in schooling, and southern border security according to the official website.
Greg Abbott was listed among TIME’s 100 Most Influential People in 2024 according to the official website. The Office exercises authority statewide across Texas according to the official website.
