The U.S. Census Bureau announced on March 10 that it will provide a two-day embargo period for qualified media to review the Vintage 2025 population estimates for U.S. counties, metropolitan and micropolitan statistical areas, as well as Puerto Rico municipios and related areas. The embargoed data covers population changes from April 1, 2020, through July 1, 2025.

This embargo period is scheduled to begin Tuesday, March 24 at 10 a.m. Eastern Time and will end Thursday, March 26 at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Time. During this time, registered members of the media can access the information through the Census Bureau’s embargo site.

According to the announcement, embargo subscribers may also request interviews with Census Bureau experts during the restricted period by emailing [email protected]. The agency encourages subscribers to confirm their login credentials by March 23 and provides assistance via [email protected] if needed.

The Census Bureau emphasized that any information accessed under embargo cannot be published or shared in any form until after the public release date and time on March 26 at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Time.

The release of these updated population estimates is part of ongoing efforts by the Census Bureau to provide timely demographic data for use by policymakers, researchers, and the public.
