Austin Regional Clinic (ARC) has participated in more than 50 clinical trials since 2016 through its Clinical Research program. Working with Innovo Research, ARC explores new methods to prevent, detect, or treat diseases that may benefit both pediatric and adult patients.
Currently, ARC is enrolling participants for five different vaccine and treatment studies, addressing conditions such as pediatric migraines, chronic kidney disease, and chronic hives. Previous studies have included vaccine trials for adults and children for COVID-19, chicken pox, meningitis; diagnostic studies for autism and lung cancer; and treatment studies for arthritis, eczema, chronic kidney disease, hot flashes, and influenza.
ARC Clinical Research examines a wide range of conditions and tests new medications and treatments. The process of conducting clinical trials is lengthy and careful.
One ongoing study at ARC is focused on the multiple sclerosis medication BRIUMVI. This 96-week trial tracks the drug’s effectiveness, safety profile, and patient tolerance over time. The research provides local access to a potential new treatment option for Central Texans living with MS while contributing to understanding its long-term benefits.
Another recent study investigated ways to slow the progression of chronic kidney disease (CKD). Researchers conducted a Phase III study with patients who have CKD and high proteinuria. Results showed that the new approach reduced protein levels in urine and significantly slowed disease progression.
“ARC has been serving the community for over 45 years. In addition to comprehensive, coordinated, primary, specialty, and surgical care, we are proud to find new ways to prevent and treat illness and disease, improve outcomes, and provide Central Texans with access to advanced medical treatment,” said Anas Daghestani, MD, President & CEO of ARC.
Participation in an ARC research study contributes to advancements in medicine that affect ARC patients as well as others beyond their clinics. Innovo Research partners with ARC as part of a network of 14 medical organizations across the United States. These nationwide trials involve millions of patients working with over 150 physician-led teams.
“Our partnership with Innovo Research allows ARC to expand healthcare innovation and cutting-edge research, offering patients in our community a unique value,” explained Jacques Benun, MD, FAAP, ARC Principal Investigator. “I feel fortunate to be in a position where I can make a difference in advancing medicine while helping our patients achieve their health care goals.”
