The A. Philip Randolph Institute (APRI) has announced that its 55th Annual Education Conference will be held from July 22 to July 26, 2026, at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside.
APRI is an organization made up of Black trade unionists focused on promoting racial equality and economic justice. The institute was founded in 1965 by A. Philip Randolph and Bayard Rustin as a continuation of their efforts to advance the rights of working Americans.
A. Philip Randolph was also known for founding the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters in 1925, which led Pullman porters in a significant effort against low wages and racial discrimination. Their campaign resulted in union recognition in 1935. In 1978, the Brotherhood merged with what is now called the Transportation Communications Union (TCU/IAM), furthering Randolph’s vision for organized labor supporting dignity and equality.
The annual conference aims to bring together labor leaders, activists, and members from around the country to share experiences and focus on issues affecting workers today. Attendees will participate in training programs and workshops intended to strengthen leadership abilities, support racial and economic justice initiatives, and help build influence within communities and workplaces.
Conference participants will have opportunities to network with other union members and allies, hear from expert speakers, and learn practical strategies they can use locally.
Hotel reservations are currently open for attendees. More details about conference registration will be provided soon. A tentative agenda for this year’s event is available via PDF download.
