A+ Federal Credit Union announced on Mar. 24 that its A+ Education Foundation has continued to invest in Central Texas communities by supporting local educators and schools through grants and other initiatives.

The foundation, established in 2005, aims to assist teachers who often spend their own money on classroom materials and learning tools. Since its creation, the A+ Education Foundation has awarded nearly $1.5 million in grants, sponsored more than 1,400 educator-led projects, and supported over 50 partner schools and districts.

These grants allow teachers to pursue professional development opportunities or launch new programs such as robotics clubs, bee-keeping initiatives, multilingual literacy centers, or innovative STEAM activities. Michelle R., a grant recipient from 2025 said, “When children are given the freedom to move, explore, and engage with hands-on tools in a space that supports their needs, learning becomes not just possible — but joyful and meaningful.”

Each grant is intended not only as financial assistance but also as recognition of the work educators do for students. The foundation’s efforts contribute to building stronger communities by empowering teachers and ensuring students have access to enriched learning environments.

Professionally certified educators can apply for up to $1,500 per grant for new or ongoing programs if they are members of A+FCU and employed at a school within its field of membership. Applications remain open through May 31 on the A+FCU grants program webpage.

A+ Federal Credit Union was founded in Austin by fifty teachers in 1949. It now serves over 193,000 members with twenty-two branch locations throughout the community.
