We recently spoke with Mike Gust from Houston’s family owned & operated American Wheel and Tire located at 9550 Hempstead Hwy. Like many of Houston’s local business people, Mike has clear growth & marketing objectives for 2010, but has also seen his business fluctuate over the past year.
Mike, what separates your business from your competition?
Our best form of advertisement is word of mouth so we want our customers to feel like part of the family. We separate ourselves by offering a wide variety of products, including vehicle customization, and by our experience. We’ve been in operation here since 1985.
How has the economy affected American Wheel and Tire?
Business has been rough over the last year but we still have not laid any employees off, in fact we have hired two additional people.
What benefits can your customers expect from your services?
Our customers expect and receive the best prices on tires for all makes and models. They can also expect experienced service with quick turn-around. We strive to get every customer in and out as efficiently as possible. We understand that people want their vehicles back quickly.
Lastly, what plans do you have for the future in growing your business?
Our main plan for the future is to finish our brand-new Super Center store located on 290 & 34th. We are building a beautiful new state-of-the-art facility there and hope to have it completed & open before 2011.
